Taking her by the hand, Thanos told Gamora to watch him balance a blade on his finger as he explained the concept towards her to distract her from the massacre of her people. Impressed with her, Thanos adopted Gamora and trained her to be an assassin, alongside her sister Nebula. Over the years helping her father find Infinity Stones, Gamora secretly turned against her father when she learned he was going to wipe out the entire planet of Xandar for Ronan the Accuser. She began hunting for the orb herself, hoping to sell it to the collector and get enough money to find a way far from her family.

Quill asks Rocket if the guards will protect her, but Rocket voices his doubts of her ever surviving this massacre.
