Nebula is the adoptive sister of Gamora and a former assassin and adoptive daughter of Thanos. At a young age, Nebula's mind and body were changed by her father's constant abuse and her inferiority complex with Gamora before finally redeeming herself by joining the Guardians in stopping Ego from destroying the entire universe.
She is the secondary antagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the three tetartagonists (alongside Groot and Drax the Destroyer) of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a major character of Avengers Infinity War, and one of the titular deuteragonists of Avengers: Endgame.
Early History[]
- "My father would have Gamora and me battle one another in training. Every time, my sister prevailed. My father would replace a piece of me with machinery, claiming he wanted me to be her equal. But she won. Again, and again, and again, never once refraining."
- ―Nebula to Kraglin Obfonteri
Nebula was born on the planet Luphom to unnamed parents. However, Thanos killed her parents in front of her and took Nebula. Since her childhood, Nebula was molded into being a weapon and one of Thanos' personal assassins. When she was young, Nebula at first relied upon Gamora, as she was the only one who could give Nebula what she always wanted: a sister when facing Thanos. However, the two sisters were forced to battle one another in training with Thanos watching with glee. Nebula came to resent Gamora, as she was all the family she had left, but Gamora turned away from her. The grudge would last for many years.
Guardians of the Galaxy[]
Nebula was one of the main antagonist, helping Ronan’s attempt to destroy a whole civilization. She later got away from the battle, causing a whole lot of damage before she escaped.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2[]
Personality[]
Like Gamora, Nebula hates her father for turning her into a weapon. However, she does not seem to want redemption like her sister does and is bent on revenge on Thanos for turning Nebula and Gamora into weapons. She was known to be overly jealous, as she hated whenever Thanos expressed Gamora being the evil Titan's favorite daughter.
By Movie 3, Nebula became more caring, selfless and brave but retained her sarcasm and had often argued with Peter Quill.
Physical Appearance[]
Nebula is a very tall woman, and appears to be taller than Peter Quill. It is assumed Nebula is younger than Gamora based on each other's attitudes, but this has yet to be confirmed. She appears to be in her late twenties, early thirties.
Nebula has dark blue skin that looks purple. Two sides of her face are blue. Her left side, however, has silver metal surrounding her left eye. She also has one arm made of flesh while the other one is made out of machinery.

Family[]
Thanos[]
Thanos kidnapped Nebula when she was a small child, killing her biological family in the process. Thanos was very abusive towards Nebula, even removing a piece of her body everytime she lost a sparring session with Gamora because he believed it would make her stronger. However, it only made Nebula's hatred for him intensified. In Avengers: Endgame, in Thanos' final moments, where the Titan saw that he had took his youngest daughter for granted and that he should have trusted her more. When Thor killed her adoptive father, Nebula found herself crying
Gamora[]
Gamora is Nebula's adoptive sister and best friend and the sibling she showed the most affection for, being the only sibling Nebula hated the least. Nebula tried to kill her sister several times before she revealed that all she wanted was Gamora's love as a sister because she stood by and did nothing when Thanos ripped her apart. Despite everything, Nebula helped Gamora save her lover, Quill, from his father and stopped Ego from killing the galaxy. The sisters finally reconciled when they gave an awkward but loving hug.
Several years later, Nebula and Gamora met under the worst cirrcumstances when Thanos revealed he captured her and began torturing Nebula so Gamora would tell him where the Soul Stone was. Unable to see her sister suffer, Gamora professed that it was on the planet Vormir.
Nebula was deeply saddened by her death, and it even upset her five years later when discussing it. Nebula later pleaded with a past version of Gamora, revealing what their relationship was like in the future. Gamora's love for Nebula caused her to turn from their adoptive father for good.
Black Order[]
The Black Order are Nebula's adoptive siblings, whom she despised more than all of their other siblings. Among the members were her adoptive sister, Proxima Midnight, and Corvus is Nebula's adoptive brother. However, Nebula despised him along with her other siblings.
Ebony Maw[]
Nebula's adoptive brother. She hates them more than Gamora.
Proxima Midnight[]
Nebula's adoptive sister. She has a less-than-perfect relationship with her adopted sister.
Peter Quill[]
Nebula and Quill initially did not get along due to them being enemies. However, she did help save Quill from his father. When Gamora died, they both felt grief and anger for their mutual loss, as Nebula sympathized with her sister's boyfriend. However, Nebula does find Quill to be irritating, as she believed he was an idiot when she and Rhodey tried achieving the Power Stone in 2014.
